Nicky began his training career in 1978, after being assistant to the legendary Fred Winter. He moved to the historic Seven Barrows yard with its private gallops in 1992 and has not looked back.

The yard has excellent facilities and plenty of land around for the horses to relax after exercising or between races. Seven Barrows has been the home of National Hunt stars past and present including Sprinter Sacre, Altior, Binocular, Buveur D’Air, Shishkin and many more, and hopefully there are many more yet to come.

MY SILENT AUCTION ITEMS

MY HORSES TO FOLLOW FOR 2021

Balco Coastal (Fr)

2016 bay gelding by Coastal Path (GB) ex Fliugika (Fr) (Roi De Rome (USA))

Mark Blandford

He won his only bumper very readily and looks to have a very bright future as a novice hurdler. He will probably have another run in a bumper before he is put away for next season.

Craigneiche (Ire)

2014 brown gelding by Flemensfirth (USA) ex Itsalark (Ire) (Definite Article (GB))

Robert Kirkland

He won a valuable handicap hurdle at Ascot earlier this season before running a really good race in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham. He is a much stronger horse this season and hopefully there is plenty more to come from him.

Dusart (Ire)

2015 bay gelding by Flemensfirth (USA) ex Dusty Too (GB) (Terimon (GB))

R A Bartlett

He looked to be a really exciting novice hurdler when he won at Newbury before sustaining a freak injury which forced him to miss Cheltenham. He has come back well and will hopefully be back out soon.

Fantastic Lady (Fr)

2015 bay mare by Network (Ger) ex Latitude (Fr) (Kadalko (Fr))

Evan-Robert Hanbury

She is a lovely mare who jumps for fun despite a very unlucky fall earlier this season. She should progress into a lovely chaser for the valuable mares’ races in time.

Firestep (Ire)

2016 bay gelding by Mahler (GB) ex Springinherstep (Ire) (Saddlers’ Hall (Ire))

Charles Dingwall & The Infamous Five

He won his first bumper despite being very green then came back out and won well again under a penalty. He should progress into a really smart novice hurdler for next season.

Heross Du Seuil (Fr)

2017 bay gelding by Rail Link (GB) ex Tulipe De Seuil (Fr) (Equerry (USA))

Mrs J Donnelly

He won first time out for us but was unlucky not to follow up on that success. He has come out of his race well and hopefully he will show his true potential soon.

Jonbon (Fr)

2016 bay gelding by Walk In The Park (Ire) ex Star Face (Fr) (Saint Des Saints (Fr))

John P McManus

This one needs no introduction as he is the full brother to the supremely talented Douvan. If he has even a quarter of his ability we have a very good horse on our hands!

Marmalaid (GB)

2017 grey filly by Martaline (GB) ex Miracle Maid (GB) (Selkirk (USA))

D J Burke & P Alderson

She is a beautiful filly who is yet to make her racecourse debut but she has done everything right at home and it will be good to see what she is capable of.

Russian Ruler (Ire)

2017 bay gelding by Sholokhov (Ire) ex Dee Two O Two (Ire) (Rudimentary (USA))

Unique Financial Racing Partnership

He is a really exciting looking store horse who has been working really well at home. Hopefully he can impress on the track like he has been at home.

Walking On Air (Ire)

2017 bay gelding by Walk In The Park (Ire) ex Refinement (Ire) (Oscar (Ire))

Mrs Doreen Tabor

He was unlucky to come up against what looks a very talented horse of Gary Moore’s. Had that horse not been in the race he would have been an extremely impressive bumper winner and we are very much looking forward to the future with him.

HELP TO SUPPORT THE OPEN DAY

MAKE A DONATION

For over 30 years, The Lambourn Open Day has been the chief provider of funds for the welfare of our superb and hard working stable staff.

All the profits go towards helping them and their families. The bulk of the money goes to our Registered Charity, The Lambourn Valley Housing Trust. Please see below. The rest, about 10%, goes to helping various facilities for them, such as the Lambourn School, their Sports Club etc, as well as to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
