Jonathan Portman has occupied Whitcoombe House Stables since 2012 and during this time has trained several winners on the flat including three Group races, various Listed races and scored at the festivals of Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood as well as taking the £250k Weatherbys Supersprint with bargain buy unbeaten two-year-old filly Mrs Danvers.

These stables are wonderfully positioned to give horses a secluded and peaceful environment with the advantage of the convenience of close and easy access to the many varied gallops. Affordable ownership in small, well run partnerships is something Jonathan caters well for and you are welcome to join in!

Our yard sponsor is Pump Technology Limited.

For over 30 years, The Lambourn Open Day has been the chief provider of funds for the welfare of our superb and hard working stable staff.

All the profits go towards helping them and their families. The bulk of the money goes to our Registered Charity, The Lambourn Valley Housing Trust. Please see below. The rest, about 10%, goes to helping various facilities for them, such as the Lambourn School, their Sports Club etc, as well as to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
