In a training career spanning 28 years Charlie has trained nearly 900 winners over jumps, including several Grade 1 winners. With two runners at the Cheltenham Festival this year – Defi Des Carres and Will Victory – we strive to remain competitive at the highest level.

Our focus is very much on quality, not quantity, and we have several horses worth watching over the coming seasons as their careers progress. It’s such a shame that this year we won’t be able to welcome many of you to Neardown Stables in person but we’ll very much look forward to hopefully seeing some familiar faces (and some new ones) at next year’s Lambourn Open Day.

Camouflaged (Ire)

2017 grey gelding by Dark Angel (Ire) ex Inner Secret (USA) (Singspiel (Ire))

Jonathan David Mayo

A lovely big four-year-old by Dark Angel, he was placed at Cheltenham on only his second run. He’ll make a nice staying hurdler next season.

Capone (Ger)

2015 brown gelding by Nathaniel (Ire) ex Codera (Ger) (Zilzal (USA))

Brendan Kerr

He’s won three for us already and may go novice chasing next season.

Commit Or Quit (Ire)

2015 chesnut gelding by Tobougg (Ire) ex Gail Borden (Ire) (Kris Kin (USA))

Mrs John Thorneloe

A very well handicapped horse, he will improve next year. He has won over fences.

Defi Des Carres (Fr)

2013 chesnut gelding by Sumitas (Ger) ex Star Des Carres (Fr) (Beyssac (Fr))

Mrs John Thorneloe & MJR Bannister

A cross country horse, he will only have three opportunities over here so he’ll probably head abroad too this year.  He was beaten by a nose in December’s cross country race at Cheltenham.

Gin Coco (Fr)

2016 bay gelding by Cokoriko (Fr) ex Qlementine (Fr) (Video Rock (Fr))

David’s Partnership

A horse with a lot of speed, he was second in his only run here and should win next season.

Mistersister (Fr)

2017 grey gelding by Wootton Bassett (GB) ex Peace Mine (Can) (Mineshaft (USA))

S Frosell, R Frosell & Mrs D Stimson

A nice juvenile by Wootton Bassett, he has already won in France and will go handicap hurdling next season.

Prabeni (GB)

2015 chesnut gelding by Teofilo (Ire) ex Nyarhini (GB) (Fantastic Light (USA))

The 25 Club

Having won three over hurdles, including a Listed race, he’s a little horse with a big jump that will cope with chasing next season.

Sacre Coeur (Fr)

2016 grey mare by Montmartre (Fr) ex Singaporette (Fr) (Sagacity (Fr))

David’s Partnership

Won two chases in France and will run in two mile chases on decent ground.

Sid Hoodie (Ire)

2014 bay mare by Rip Van Winkle (Ire) ex Universe (GB) (Cape Cross (Ire))

Dominic Christian

A very genuine mare, she has won five for us and may go novice chasing.

Stream Of Stars (GB)

2015 bay gelding by Sea The Stars (Ire) ex Precious Gem (Ire) (Sadler’s Wells (USA))

Susie & Robert Frosell

Very good flat horse by Sea The Stars who will run in novices this coming season.

Will Victory (Fr)

2016 brown mare by Willywell (Fr) ex Gesa Mixa (Fr) (Al Namix (Fr))

David’s Partnership

Lovely mare who won two hurdles in France. She will go novice chasing next season.

Won’t Talk (Ire)

2014 bay gelding by Scorpion (Ire) ex Talk To The Missus (IRE) (Executive Perk (GB))

The Steeple Chasers

Has won a point-to-point in Ireland and has run well over hurdles this season.  The plan is to go novice chasing with him next season.

For over 30 years, The Lambourn Open Day has been the chief provider of funds for the welfare of our superb and hard working stable staff.

All the profits go towards helping them and their families. The bulk of the money goes to our Registered Charity, The Lambourn Valley Housing Trust. Please see below. The rest, about 10%, goes to helping various facilities for them, such as the Lambourn School, their Sports Club etc, as well as to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
