POINT LOUISE

2018 bay mare by Free Eagle ex Cape Mystery

VELOCITY RACINGA Racing Partnership with a Difference

Velocity Racing combines the thrill of racehorse ownership with the enjoyment of group cycling.

The partnership was originally started by syndicate manager Charlie Corbett and racehorse trainer Harry Dunlop to create a flat horseracing syndicate for those who also enjoyed road cycling. This year their horse POINT LOUISE (3yo) gave them gold, silver, and bronze medal podium finishes. There are yard visits, day cycle rides as well as attending the races. There is also an annual 3-day cycle ride. In 2021 the group travelled to Cheshire and visited Tom Dascombe’s stables and went racing at Chester where Point Louise was 3rd.  Previous trips have included travelling to Deauville in France via the D-Day landing beaches with guided tours each day and a speaker; Chantilly via Dieppe visiting stud farms & attending the races and a tour of Monet’s Garden; Yorkshire included Middleham training centre with a private tour of Mark Johnston’s yard. The cycling is very much aimed to be fun, sociable and safe on quiet roads.

 Partnership benefits:

  • Visit Frenchman Lodge Stables to see the horse & Tour of the Lambourn Gallops

  • Watch the horse work on the gallops followed by a cycle ride culminating in a pub lunch

  • Day cycle trips

  • Annual 3 day cycle tour in Britain or Europe to inc. guiding and support vehicle if necessary

  • Equal distribution of prize money at the end of the season

  • Tickets to the races

  • Owners Day lunch

  • Behind the scenes access to other racing yards

Kindly donated by Harry Dunlop.

HELP TO SUPPORT THE OPEN DAY

MAKE A DONATION

For over 30 years, The Lambourn Open Day has been the chief provider of funds for the welfare of our superb and hard working stable staff.

All the profits go towards helping them and their families. The bulk of the money goes to our Registered Charity, The Lambourn Valley Housing Trust. Please see below. The rest, about 10%, goes to helping various facilities for them, such as the Lambourn School, their Sports Club etc, as well as to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
