Thames Valley Air Ambulance

The Lambourn Open Day is delighted to be giving a donation from it’s income to The Thames Valley Air Ambulance. The Air Ambulance is not NHS or Lottery funded so they rely heavily on the generosity of the public in order that they can keep this valuable and vital service operational.

Thames Valley Air Ambulance is the local service for Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.  Thanks to support from the local community our experienced doctor and paramedic crews are able to reach people in need within minutes, ready to deliver advanced life-saving critical care that you would normally find only in a hospital A&E department.

Over the years the service has transformed from ‘swoop and scoop’, making huge developments in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine. Our teams have at their fingertips the latest life support kit such as a compact chest compressor which allows us to continue treatment at the same time as keeping the heart pumping. We carry blood on board for on scene transfusions and a hospital level blood analyser which can give vital information in seconds. We have hand held ultrasound machines, able to show internal injuries at the roadside. In the last few years TVAA have extended the service by introducing a car as well as a brand-new helicopter, fully equipped for night operations.

With your help, we are proud to be an organisation that is committed to constant development and enhancement and above all else, we are committed to patient care.

Serious accidents to our stable staff on the roads and gallops are mercifully infrequent. However, they do occur and the Air Ambulance provides an excellent and invaluable service when the situation arises. Please visit the Air Ambulance trade stand in the Events Arena to find out more.
